MOXI®

WHAT IS MOXI®?

MOXI® is Sciton’s gentle-yet-powerful fractional laser designed for anyone seeking brighter, clearer, more youthful‑looking skin with minimal downtime. Often called the “prejuvenation” laser, MOXI delivers controlled non‑ablative energy into the skin to stimulate collagen, improve tone and texture, and accelerate healthy cell renewal — all without disrupting the skin’s surface. This makes it an ideal option for both first‑time laser patients and those looking to maintain long‑term skin health.

MOXI is safe for ALL skin types and can be customized to address early signs of sun damage, uneven pigmentation, rough texture, enlarged pores, and overall dullness. Whether you’re in your 20's building a preventative routine or managing accumulated sun exposure later in life, MOXI offers a comfortable, efficient treatment that leaves the skin looking refreshed, radiant, and more even over time.

HOW DOES  MOXI® WORK?

MOXI® is a gentle, non‑ablative fractional laser that refreshes the skin from the inside out. It works by delivering controlled micro‑columns of laser energy into the upper layers of the skin. These tiny thermal zones trigger your body’s natural healing response, stimulating collagen production and accelerating healthy cell turnover — all while leaving the surface of the skin intact. As the skin renews itself over the days following treatment, pigmentation becomes more even, texture feels smoother, and the complexion looks brighter and more refined. Because MOXI targets early signs of sun damage without significant downtime, it’s ideal for both “prejuvenation” and ongoing skin maintenance.

BBL® + MOXI® Combo Treatment

The BBL® + MOXI® combination is Sciton’s signature powerhouse duo for achieving brighter, clearer, and more youthful‑looking skin with minimal downtime. These treatments work in harmony: BBL (BroadBand Light) targets unwanted pigmentation, redness, and sun damage at the skin’s surface, while MOXI, a gentle non‑ablative fractional laser, stimulates collagen and renews the skin from within. When performed together, they address both tone and texture in a single session, creating a smoother, more even, and radiant complexion.

This combo is ideal for patients who want noticeable improvement without aggressive downtime — perfect for “prejuvenation,” early signs of aging, or maintaining long‑term skin health. The result is a refreshed, luminous glow and healthier‑looking skin that continues to improve over time. It’s one of the most effective ways to correct sun damage, brighten dullness, and support collagen production while keeping the experience comfortable and efficient.

What To Expect During Your Appointment

Pre-Treatment Instructions

To ensure your MOXI treatment is safe, comfortable, and delivers the best possible results, we recommend the following guidelines before your appointment:

  • Avoid sun exposure for at least 1–2 weeks prior to treatment. Skin should not be tanned or sunburned.

  • Discontinue self‑tanners on the face and treated areas for at least 2 weeks.

  • Pause retinoids, exfoliants, and active skincare (retinol, tretinoin, AHAs/BHAs, benzoyl peroxide, scrubs) for 3–5 days before treatment unless otherwise directed.

  • Avoid photosensitizing medications when possible. If you’re unsure, please check with your prescribing provider.

  • Hold chemical peels, microneedling, or other resurfacing treatments for at least 2 weeks before MOXI.

  • Arrive with clean skin—no makeup, lotion, SPF, or perfume on the treatment area.

  • Hydrate well in the days leading up to your appointment to support skin healing.

  • If you have a history of cold sores, notify your provider in advance; prophylactic medication may be recommended.

  • Avoid excessive heat exposure (saunas, hot yoga, steam rooms) for 24 hours before treatment.

  • Shave the treatment area the night before if needed; avoid waxing or depilatory creams for 1 week prior.

These steps help ensure your skin is calm, healthy, and ready to respond beautifully to MOXI’s gentle fractional energy.

Your skin will begin its renewal process immediately after MOXI. Following these guidelines will support a smooth recovery and help you achieve the most radiant results:

  • Expect a warm, sunburn‑like sensation for several hours after treatment. This is normal and typically fades the same day.

  • Redness and mild swelling may be present for 1–3 days.

  • Tiny “MENDS” (microscopic epidermal necrotic debris) will appear as small, sand‑like dark specks over the next few days. This is part of the healing process and will naturally slough off.

  • Do not pick, scrub, or exfoliate the treated area. Allow the skin to shed on its own.

  • Use gentle skincare only for 3–5 days: a mild cleanser, hydrating serum, and a bland moisturizer.

  • Avoid active ingredients such as retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, vitamin C, benzoyl peroxide, and scrubs until your provider advises you to resume.

  • Avoid heat exposure (hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga) for 48 hours.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours to minimize heat and inflammation.

  • No makeup for 24 hours or until the skin no longer feels warm or sensitive.

  • Protect your skin from the sun diligently. Use a broad‑spectrum SPF 30+ daily and avoid direct sun exposure for at least one week.

  • Stay hydrated to support healing and enhance your glow.

  • Results will continue to improve over the next 1–2 weeks as the skin renews and brightens.

These steps help ensure your skin heals beautifully and your MOXI results look smooth, even, and radiant.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is MOXI?

MOXI is a gentle, non‑ablative fractional laser by Sciton designed to brighten the skin, improve tone and texture, and address early signs of sun damage with minimal downtime. It’s often called a “prejuvenation” treatment because it helps maintain youthful, healthy‑looking skin.

Who is MOXI best for?

MOXI is ideal for anyone looking to improve pigmentation, dullness, and texture—whether you’re building a preventative routine in your 20s or refreshing accumulated sun damage later in life. It’s safe for all skin types and can be customized for both beginners and experienced laser patients.

What does MOXI treat?

MOXI targets uneven pigmentation, sun damage, rough texture, enlarged pores, and overall skin dullness. It’s also excellent for maintaining long‑term skin health and supporting collagen production.

Does MOXI hurt?

Most patients describe the treatment as very tolerable. You may feel a warm, prickly sensation as the laser passes over the skin. A topical numbing cream is typically applied to enhance comfort.

How long does the treatment take?

A typical MOXI session takes about 15–30 minutes, depending on the area being treated. It’s quick enough to fit into a busy schedule.

Is there downtime?

MOXI has minimal downtime. You can expect redness and a warm sensation for several hours, followed by tiny “MENDS” (micro‑dots) that naturally slough off over several days. Most patients return to normal activities right away.

When will I see results?

You’ll notice a brighter, more even complexion as the skin renews over the next 5–7 days. Results continue to improve as collagen production increases.

How many treatments do I need?

Most patients benefit from a series of 3–4 treatments spaced several weeks apart, followed by maintenance sessions throughout the year. Your provider will recommend a plan based on your skin goals.

Can MOXI be combined with other treatments?

Yes. MOXI pairs beautifully with BBL® (BroadBand Light) for comprehensive improvement in both tone and texture. This combination is one of the most effective ways to correct sun damage and achieve a radiant, youthful glow.

Is MOXI safe for all skin types?

Yes. MOXI is safe for every skin type, including darker skin tones, because it uses non‑ablative energy that doesn’t break the skin’s surface.
